Hoi An in 2 Days: The Perfect Itinerary
A relaxed, well-paced two-day Hoi An itinerary covering the Ancient Town, An Bang Beach, the best food and a lantern-lit evening on the river. Only have two days in Hoi An? That is enough to experience the best of the town without feeling rushed. This itinerary balances culture, food and the beach, and finishes each day with the Ancient Town at its most atmospheric — after dark. Use it as a template and adjust to your pace. Distances are short, so it is easy to add or swap activities as you go. Day 1: Ancient Town and lanterns Morning — Start early in the Ancient Town before the heat and crowds. Cross the Japanese Covered Bridge, visit a heritage merchant house such as Tan Ky, and wander the assembly halls along Tran Phu. Afternoon — Break for a bowl of cao lau, then visit a tailor to place a custom order (allow time for a fitting tomorrow). Cool off with a Vietnamese coffee by the river. Evening — As the lanterns come on, take a short boat ride on the Thu Bon River and release a floating candle. Finish with dinner at a riverside restaurant. Day 2: Beach and countryside Morning — Cycle or ride 15 minutes to An Bang Beach for a swim while the sea is calm, followed by a fresh seafood lunch at a beachfront restaurant. Afternoon — Ride back through the rice paddies and coconut groves of Cam Thanh. Optionally join a basket-boat experience or a cooking class. Evening — Collect your tailored clothes, then enjoy a final stroll through the lantern-lit lanes and a rooftop dinner. Tips…
